The Holy Spirit

Whew. My wife and I just finished reading a blog about a missionary and his family in Guatemala.

My wife and I both cried. They are doing so much. They are making a difference. Every. Single. Day. I can't wait to meet Brock and his family when we arrive.

What did I see/experience in Guatemala that had so much impact??? The Holy Spirit was so evident! Areceli. The Greene's. Rene. Edgar. I miss them. These are all people who are changing lives DAILY. They are changing the lives of generations to come.

At the end of June we will take everything we can stuff into 10 suitcases and 5 carry on backpacks and join them.

It's weird not knowing what God has planned. I'm a goal setter. I'm a planner. I'm used to a hectic lifestyle. I'm learning to slow down and listen to God.

"What will YOU be doing in Guatemala George?"

Ask the one who sent me.
I'm not exactly sure.
And I'm cool with that.

Life Is Not A Game

Football is a game. At the end of the day it does not affect our lives. It's just entertainment on Sundays.

So why beat down a kid because he has "the wrong throwing motion"? "He isn't the future QB of the team".

I back the underdog. I back the kid who is making a difference OFF the field. He is my favorite QB of all time because he does not back down when people tell him that his "personal religious beliefs" aren't appropriate at news conferences. I back the kid that stays after practice to throw more passes.

Is winning THAT important? Or is standing up for someone who actually makes a difference on this earth?

Just sayin'.

Who is knocking

Knock. Knock. Knock.

4 months ago my family was challenged to live with less.
To buy less.
To stop spending.
To give more.

God was preparing us for something big.
But what?

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Within a few months I was called to Guatemala to serve on a short term mission trip.
Two days into the trip I was overwhelmed with emotion.
“Why am I here God? How can I serve you?”

After 6 days at an orphanage and helping at a feeding center, my life began to take on new meaning. My view of the world was changed. I would never be the same.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

“I need you in Guatemala. I will clear your path.”
What?
God. Are you sure?
“I will clear your path.”

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

After praying with my family, we have decided to leave our beautiful home and our beautiful town to become full time missionaries in a city of more than a million.

While in Guatemala, I learned that I cannot change the WHOLE world, but I CAN change SOMEONES whole world.

Please keep my family in your prayers. You will be there with us.
